Eloping is a big middle finger to everyone in your orbit. Yes, your marriage is primarily about what you want, but it's not exclusively about what you want. Refusing to share this special event in your life won't endear you to any friends or grow family relationships, and you end up looking like a selfish douche.
Even if you can only afford to get married in the park and rent the VFW for your reception, other people in your life are worth considering for the occasion.
My family is shit they are nacisstic backstabbers and would likely wreck a wedding so I'd elope and likely marry someone half my age since women my age are ugly/fat usually so a 30 year old to do that with after living together for a while to see if she is insane.

Agree wholly. I am absolutely fine with folks saying, "I don't really want to spend a ton on a wedding, rather have the money for something else." But have a something, as you said even if it's just sandwiches in the park or whatever.
If you don't have anyone else that would be honored to share the day with you than you need to rethink how you're running your life.
