Once upon a time, marriage was a sacred ceremony that bonded two people for life. Families were merged, lives combined, families raised. But now that marriage is a disposable, and in the case of women, an income investment, getting eloped isn't the stigma it was. So, yeah, I can see why it seems like there isn't a negative aspect to it. But there should be.
