I came here from voat when putt started spouting bullshit about builders and destroyers while sackriding some of the worst people on the site. He banned loads of people for downvoting his faggotry, and again I would not stand for censorship.
This place feels much like voat did in the original days of its creation. Voat used to be fun, however more and more faggoty censor-loving assclowns took over the site and have been rapidly driving it into the dirt ever since.
The last thing I want is for that to happen here, so we try and make you appreciate the grandeur of this site.
I too remember Voat's glory days. The time of HPOP seems like a dream you are trying to remember as you forget it. Just one user/example. I still like it but it's not the same fam.

It wasn't just that he banned people wrongfully (very assured yet also rushed them), but the bans themselves were very subjective for rules nobody can clearly define. Broad rules are ripe for authoritarian creep.

What I think people aren't realizing is the same people who made all the forums we were using shitty will absolutely do the same to this and every other site they can find people posting links to news stories and discussing them. Astroturfing is a thing, government surveillance is a thing, censorship by bad actors is a thing.
This why we need to develop a "free speech website" boot camp that educates new accounts about the techniques of those assholes. Teach them forum sliding techniques, and about how seeds of division of planted, and about all of their dirty tricks in a clear and concise way. The list goes on and on.
Make it a harsh experience at the same time. Expose them to some basic red pill truths that make normies shit their pants. And maybe start with making them acknowledge that Israel has nukes, if there's any truth to that other popular post about Voat from earlier today.

A large number of us joined voat in 2015. Back then voat was more about conversation and sharing of ideas. It had a certain sincerity.
It eventually got hijacked by SBBH drama, ProtectVoat abuse, and Putt's meddling.
