There's a song I often think of when consuming news.

https://tube.poal.co/watch?v=ZQzJvPZXk2s

The lines that always get to me are -

I throw empty beer cans at the TV when I’m watching the news

I hate republicans, I hate democrats, I hate liberals too

I think pacifists are weak, and violence is wrong

But I go limp for police and I fight when it’s called for

FUCK! Poaltube is being a cuntastic bitch to me right now!

But I looked up the song with those lyrics, and TIM BARRY sounds exceedingly clever and I look forward to hearing this when I can. I am also disappointed in myself for not hearing of this fellow - but now I have, thanks to you!

I'm keeping a tab with that link open so that I remember to reload it periodically to the point where it results in something other than an error.

eh, there's the youtube should you choose. I had to head there first before posting it to poaltube at any rate. He's the ex-frontman for Avail that started a solo folk career after his punk rock days. He's really pretty good. Makes music that resonates especially w/ me as we're both from RIC and much of the music is specific to the region and surrounding areas in context.

I'm all like, WHAAAT?! A punk band I am unfamiliar with?! But they're very local to Richmond, apparently. I wish they made it out to he scuzzy west coast in the 90s, because I would have certainly booked them, and if I hadn't, my wife would have. She was much more influential in punky hollywood venues, where I was more inland at the time, and worked with so many great bands, as did she.

Heck, I booked bands way out in the so-called 'inland-empire' of California all the way from as far away as France, but here I go getting boastful about ancient history, like Al Bundy or something...

But all that said, this guy dovetails right into my relatively recent obsession with folk / country. He's like an even more raw Hank III, especially lyrically. Thanks for turning me on to a great artist, man!
