The infestation was worse than I thought, there were 10s of thousands of these little niggers in every nook and cranny, in some areas looking like a teeming red paste.

Had to amend my plan from here https://poal.co/s/AskPoal/774347 by some extra steps:

  • After pressure washing, be coverered in mites and mite excrement
  • Burn all your clothes
  • Take a long bath in equal parts holy water and sulfuric acid

The "good" bug killer is not being sold anymore, so I had to use the "natural" stuff. Let's see how it works out.

I still feel itchy, even after a shower and a change of clothes.

Thanks for this. Ordered 1 Liter concentrate, which should give 100 Liters of applicable product. It has soapnut tree extract in it, so it emulgates better with water.

Includes a measuring cup and a sprayer for 25 Euros.

If it works, that's a godsend.

No problem. It's a bit harsh on the windpipes. I probably should have put on some respiratory protection before running up the ladder and going scorched earth, but I didn't. But it sounds like you're scorched earth is going to be heavier than mine... Would recommend.

Neem oil arrived and I mixed up a batch. You weren't kidding, that stuff reeks! I read you can put it on chickens, coop and "the environment", whatever that means.

I'll have to trick my wife into applying it somehow.

I recall back in my chemical production days I had a hood that was just a cardboard box over a regular exhaust fan in an open window. A certain powdery, powerful antioxidant I was using had all sorts of warnings, one being "do not release into the environment". I quit that gig...

My wife would much sooner beat me than go near mites again. Good luck with that, should you choose to proceed.
