I remember suggesting to the city planners that they plant fruit-bearing trees rather than ornamental bushes along some of the roads and maybe in the park - so people could go pick some fruit off the trees if hungry.
The city didn't do it, of course. I guess they thought the fruit would be troublesome to clean up and the trees more costly to maintain.
