My father specialized in stick framing big waterfront houses with exceedingly complex roof framing designs.
I'm not the expert but I spent many summers with his pattern, cutting birds mouths in rafters and hanging joist hangars when I was too young for the skil saw.
And damn, catching soft crabs with a dip net or peelers out in the water on our lunch hour.
Those were the good ol days.
I grew up with it too. Age 14 and up, I worked school vacations and a couple of summers during college. Dad was a Carpenter/Contractor/Developer. His father was a boat builder in the early 1900s, turned carpenter/contractor - and my dad worked on his crew as a kid. Great memories I'll always treasure, dad died at age 50. I'm thankful I was able to spend all of that quality time with him.
