If you fasten into the lathing, it'll hold a ton.

Well that's the plan, but I was worried if the lathing flexes too much the plaster will fail, but I guess nothing is pulling on the plaster...

The plaster is pulling on the Lathing. The Lathing is pulling on the Studs. Studs are likely on a 16" center, so I doubt you would bow out the plaster. Wood Lathing is 100X stronger than metal Lathing.

I got a upwords of 50lb TV mounted to a plaster wall..... Hasn't fallen down yet. I used 4 toggle anchors. Can confirm the mount can hold my weight for at least 10 seconds.
