Good Luck. Incidentally... Since you have a plaster and Lath wall, is there a picture moulding running around the perimeter of the room about 2 feet below the ceiling? If so, you should hang things from that with hooks and wire.

Unfortunately there is no such moulding in the bedrooms. Living areas, yes, but bedrooms, no.

Uh-oh... That could mean something. Perhaps there was a remodel and the plaster is gone? (Replaced with sheetrock?) Or metal lathing; in which case would change everything I said.

I'll drill a hole first and make sure it's wood lathing. The walls are still plaster and I would highly doubt this place has been remodeled.
edit: and walls in all other bedrooms are wood lathe
