Many operating systems, file managers and image viewing programs create a thumbnail cache/database to load thumbnails faster.

Many many of my pictures are of circuit boards and disassembly steps of various things I need to zoom in on to look at fine details.. if they're just low-res thumbnails they're just useless to me. Of the 1,408 photos on my phone right now, 0 are photos of humans.. so no sentimental memory stuff. If a psychologist knew this about me, they'd probably want me committed...
