I agree killing and eating an animal per se is not animal cruelty. E.g. If I'm being attacked by an animal, I will protect myself. If the animal must die, then so be it. I would consume its body, too, so as not to waste it.
But, if you had absolutely no need to harm an animal, would it be wrong to harm the animal? As we see with the last link in the description, we have no need for animal products in our diets.
