In fairness, that can be a valid answer during debate. If someone upholds themselves as a peer but demand you provide them a rudimentary education, they clearly are not in a position to debate or even hold a valid opinion; contrary or otherwise. Accordingly, it's not fair to demand the other person provide a basic education which can be obtained without the other party.
That said, here, your comment is appropriate as it is he who is failing to back his own theory. I have tried to find these answers before and they always decline.
As such, he should be prepared to answer the most basic of questions. If for no other reason, to understand what it is he is proposing.

Okay, well... shouldn't you understand the position you advocate? If you don't understand what it is you advocate, why should anyone take you seriously?
It's pretty significant thing to dismiss our entire atmosphere with a theory which seemingly says it shouldn't exist.
