I am and everything is funneled through multinational blood drinker staffing agencies; 10 hours is apparently the new standard fucking shift? Pass
"Welcome to the company new employee Team Member! Work your ass off with no health insurance or sick days. Next Monday is Martin Luther Terrorist day so you get the day off (with no pay)! If you do good you might get hired and be eligible for a 401K after a year of permanent employment."
It used to be illegal to have a temp (now called team member) for more than a year. So in my youth I would work for a year and get laid off, replaced with another temp. Then they changed the law and made it two years. Two fucking years as a temp.
Well, now they call you a "contractor" and you're on the permanent payroll of one of the thousands of Indian recruiting companies. You have no benefits or anything, and there's no chance you'll ever be hired by the company you're working with.
Honda does that, I've had contacts with temp agencies that crow about having people placed at the research center in Ohio for a decade.
Yeah so they just pushed the limit for how long you can temp to forever, really sad for the younger generation now.
Once I interviewed for a position and the job description didn't match at all! It went from hands on technical repairs to a Admin position! I actually yelled at the shitskin over the phone and still got the job, hilarious in retrospect since I still did the job and eventually moved to the tech position I was supposed to have to begin with. What a clusterfuck.
Most of the positions im looking at are actually pretty good about all that but you agree to "be flexible" w 10 hour shifts so 11-12 hours on a bullshit salary
It was a long time ago for me. These were BIG companies, so once it was over it at least looked good on a resume. But damn they were terrible and the permanents were so useless and it was so hard for them to get fired it was practically tenure. Well until the screwups piled up and a mass layoff happens.
After I got my head out of the sand I moved to small companies only. Better work environment, little to no BS or HR faggotry and permanent hire right away.
Even places like the post office are working ppl like crazy with no benefits then wonder why no one stays.
The local post office is hiring for carrier, which I always thought was kinda a cool job for a semi-retired guy so I checked it out.
Come to find out you have to use your own car now (they have multiple carriers but only one mailtruck). Stop and start and turn all day long so the kids' beaters don't last long and need new tires like every 5 months, what a shit deal.
