Turns out, if you pull on the cable too hard, especially when the truck isn't plugged in, you can break the locking mechanism, which is exactly what happened.

It's so fragile that pulling a handle too hard can break your ability to charge the vehicle.

Remember, EVs are especially designed to keep us walking distance from home. It's a feature.

I'm trying to imagine an ICE vehicle ever being so obviously a design disaster and drawing a blank. If you tear a fuel door off with a heckin' crowbar the car will still work, but apparently electric vehicles are all designed by retards.

A technician who'd dealt with this problem in the past told us it was a 22-hour job that required replacing the entire front wiring harness, which involved dropping the front motors out of the truck.

Oops. You tried turning the gas cap the wrong way. You'll need to replace the transmission.

It's a baffling stupid design. User accessible electrical should use snap in place connectors so if someone tries to He-Man it out, at worst you snapped a 50¢ plastic tab.
