GASP! TheBuddha only practicing for an hour?!? I refuse to believe it. I've got 10$ that says you pick up a guitar at least twice before the day is over.

I'm not gonna take that bet.

I'd like to imagine that I won't play again - at least not practicing any more today. But, I don't have to make dinner tonight, so it seems pretty likely that I'll find a guitar in my hands.

It also does depend, a little, on how much time I spend adding, editing, and scheduling articles for the musicfor.us site. I'm pretty speedy, so I'll probably have time.

Also, the eldest hoodlum wants to jam tonight and we've not yet done our recording for tomorrow's guitar thread.

I'm trying to make this week a "down week." I was busy as all fuck, for the past month. I was supposed to be less busy by the 1st of September, but I've been busy pretty much every day this month.

I'm trying to take it easy and just do what I want today. It's pretty likely that I'll pick the guitar up again.

So, I'm not gonna take that bet. If you need $10, it's easier to just skip the bet and use PayPal!

Oh I don't need the 10$ at least not yet. However I was pretty damn sure you wouldn't take it, I was more attempting to make a joke. I really need to get on setting up paypal donations I had something I thought worked and then someone donated 10$ and it didn't go through, I ensured paypal returned the money too them and I haven't really dived into it again as I've had other things I've been working on. I should probably find someone who knows how to do it.

You can just use their interface to generate a donate link, as well as 'buy now' and 'subscribe' links.

Donate has a bunch of options, including setting a minimum. Buy now has a ton of options, and can be interfaced with a bunch of other things. Subscribing lets you do things like monthly billing and can even be tied into your own API to enable whatever functionality into it that you wanted.

And yeah - I figured it was a joke.

Also, hmm...

If you connect this site with PayPal, and shit goes pear-shaped, PayPal is going to cancel you and possibly fuck you over by doing shit like refunding all money that is in your account and has not yet been transferred to your bank account.

Funding sites such as this has been shown to be problematic in the past and, well, PayPal is not known for supporting free speech.

Your options are few and I'm not actually able to confidently advise you. Stripe is known to cancel payment processing for sites and activities that they don't support. Patreon isn't even remotely an option.

I believe someone set up a Hatereon - but I don't know anything about it, or them.

There's crypto-currencies, of all types. It's actually pretty easy to facilitate that and there's a variety of services that will make it easy for you to implement such.

Would you like me to take a look and see what options are available? I almost certainly won't get to it until next week, and it's likely to require a block of time, but I have no problem throwing that block of time into researching this - and may find that research useful for my own needs.

I don't actually need donations, but I'd like to be able to get the sites self-funded and the payment automated. I'd like to eventually be able to figure out a way to pass them on to a community of other people and the next generation of passionate people.

So, researching this will possibly benefit me and my doing so may result in my being able to offer advise from an informed position.

Also, feel free to use that email address that I gave you earlier.

I don't know if you noticed, but earlier today I was indicating a willingness to help you prepare for your inevitable press interactions. I'm fairly confident that you will, assuming the site continues on course, have to interact with the press.

While I'm not a lawyer, and you should hire a lawyer, I'm willing to offer layman's advice which you can apply weight to as you deem fit. I've had significant interactions with the press and it's my opinion that you should start preparing to deal with the press sooner rather than later. It's also my opinion that it's very likely that you will, eventually, find yourself encountering the press.

For this, you should have a lawyer. You do not have a lawyer. You probably can't afford a good lawyer. That leaves you with me - and whoever else you're willing to reach out to for advice. As your not-lawyer, I'd recommend weighting the advice offered carefully and consider the sources of the advice when such does happen.

You are not in, nor should you ever be in - for this site, any criminal legal issues. You're quite likely to eventually find someone who tries to make running this site difficult and they may well use the courts as a tool to pressure you or close your site down. It's probably a good idea to minimize that risk and have things like prepared statements for the media.

I should also read your terms of service, acceptable use policy, and privacy policy. I'm more or less writing some of this for myself, as a bit of a mental checklist. I've decided that I should be a not-your-lawyer and take a look around. I'm really quite certain that you will eventually face scrutiny and publicity.

I'm kind of baffled, mystified really, as to why Putt isn't getting more publicity - but I assume it's a legitimate effort on his part to decline comments and avoid much interaction with the community.
