Today is Friday and tonight is the Friday Night Guitar Thread!

The thread opens at 20:00 Eastern in s/Guitar.

It'll be opened by tonight.

We, the wife and I, are on vacation for a while. We'll still swing by for a little while.

If you don't already have a track ready, there's still time to prepare one! Remember, if it wasn't for low standards, we'd have no standards at all. So, feel free to join us in sharing some music that you were personally involved in. It's not just for guitar, any instrument is welcome.

Be there, or be square!

Maybe I will !! Sometime..

Can't do that neat opening lead on the song but can play the chords and sing pretty good.

Never wanted really to do more than play rhythm and sing, though I have played some lead live, like the little mandolin sounding part in the middle of Tequila Sunrise.

But, my fingers were shaking lol.

"I got BLISTERS on me FINGERS !!" From the White Album lol.

I used to not be comfortable on the stage. I'd find a way to hide on the stage, as much as possible. I'd spend a lot of time paying attention to the drummer.

I eventually got used to it, but it used to be so bad that I'd usually puke before going onstage.

So, it's possible to adjust and get comfortable. It just takes dedication, opportunity, and repetition. Perhaps not in that order.

Is your username a reference to ham radio?

No, no ham radio reference, I've been asked that before.

I just pulled the name out of the air one night when I finally decided to join Voat.

No reference to the big bopper either.

I did once spend almost an hour privately with Willie Nelson trying to sell him some pretty bad country songs I wrote.

He was quite nice.

It's an old Air Force term for Morse Code Interceptors and a lot of ham radio operators have that as a background.

They're called "ditty boppers". Or at least they were historically called that. I've no idea about the current nomenclature.
