Today is Friday and tonight is the Friday Night Guitar Thread!

The thread opens at 20:00 Eastern in s/Guitar.

It'll be opened by tonight.

We, the wife and I, are on vacation for a while. We'll still swing by for a little while.

If you don't already have a track ready, there's still time to prepare one! Remember, if it wasn't for low standards, we'd have no standards at all. So, feel free to join us in sharing some music that you were personally involved in. It's not just for guitar, any instrument is welcome.

A long, long time ago, I used to worry about what I'd do when I retired - 'cause I figured I'd be broke as fuck.

My plan was to do the owner-operator thing, doing OTR (but depot to depot, to avoid city driving) transport.

Alas, that plan never reached fruition.

We've been giving tracks the 'full treatment' for a while. Meaning, we make sure every instrument is included. We're on vacation for a bit. We've got enough in the archives to keep going for years.

You'd be surprised at how many folks enjoy it. Well, probably...

On top of that, the comments feed your ego and make you want to record more and thus you end up practicing more.

We've seen marked improvement from many who have contributed over the years. Hell, you should hear my wife's early tracks.

Can't do that neat opening lead on the song but can play the chords and sing pretty good.

Never wanted really to do more than play rhythm and sing, though I have played some lead live, like the little mandolin sounding part in the middle of Tequila Sunrise.

But, my fingers were shaking lol.

I used to not be comfortable on the stage. I'd find a way to hide on the stage, as much as possible. I'd spend a lot of time paying attention to the drummer.

I eventually got used to it, but it used to be so bad that I'd usually puke before going onstage.

So, it's possible to adjust and get comfortable. It just takes dedication, opportunity, and repetition. Perhaps not in that order.

All right. I've lost track it the day of the week. Last night I was over downstairs from verle with Christopher and we were playing and singing in the kitchen and suddenly the woman says there's smoke coming from her daughter's door and Chris tried the door and it was locked and then another woman there kicked it in and the room was engulfed in flames. They called the fire department and they came and put the fire out and destroyed the house. This was the woman who's father passed away very recently and she doesn't have insurance on the house, and she's suddenly homeless and going to have to come up with money to have the place demolished and sell the lot. Verle is homeless now too, well he came to my house with me last night. He didn't even know I was there, he was just hanging out with his woman upstairs and suddenly his place is destroyed. I don't really want him living here but man I ain't going to put him out on the street. My world is gone crazy from this too. That really sucks. My home burned down when I was a kid and it was horrible. Of course it's good no one was hurt, but damn. At least Verle has you to help, good on ya. Tell him I'm sorry for him but know he will bounce back even better. Even though it's true, he probably doesn't want to hear that right now, I don't blame him.

Oh crap, you figured it out. Damn I thought I hid it so well, seeing how it is COFfer. I just ask for a little compassion during my transition, it's a deeply personal journey.
