Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, click this link (fngt.gq). That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask COF, Crazy, or TheBuddha.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then you can donate.

Shit, posted in the wrong thread... Here's a copypasta

Sup, I finally remembered it is FNGT. Sorry, had a wisdom tooth and next door molar pulled Wednesday. First time having a smoke, and beer. I haven't touched a guitar in a loong time. Here's for Crazy, I said I'd do a cover to match his a while back: https://soundcloud.com/thewilake/over-the-hills-and-far-away

Here's a blues riff I wrote and don't know WTF to do: https://soundcloud.com/thewilake/blues-2

Here's the best of the bunch... I might have shared it back on VOAT, but this is my cousin. He wrote it, and played it live. He lived in Argentina and Chile for over 2 years teaching English. I tried to be a "producer" and had him try to harmonize the vocals. https://soundcloud.com/thewilake/wino-waltz

Here's a vid of him recording it live: https://streamable.com/7x7fzl

There's some great lyrics in there. "My demons don't have boundaries 'cause they crossed the Andes". He's pretty a talented songwriter.

[–] 2 pts

Thanks, I just called him to let him know. He said if you know anyone in the record industry that wants to buy it let him know

[–] 2 pts

I haven't touched a guitar in a loong time.

Sheesh...

[–] 3 pts

Why Sheesh? lol. Other hobbies like things that go boom take precedence :D

[–] 1 pt

Because a guitar won't play itself!

[–] 1 pt

Cool. I like the blues one a lot and good job on the Zep!

Why is that stool there? LoL

My buddy Verle likes your friends lyrics

[–] 1 pt

notice the mic for the vocals is on it. My mic stand broke that day and had no other way to position a mic for him LOL

[–] 0 pt

LoL I was wondering if that was why, but it looked like there was a stand with a mic on it right next to the chair! That must have been the guitar mic.

Here's another one from the archives. A nice medley of two songs sung by the sweet @Nadeshda

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama/Creedence Clearwater Revival - Proud Mary medley (clyp.it).

[–] 2 pts

ok Fuck you!

Sorry, it's beautiful, and singing awesome, but the guitar part of Alabama reminds me of the holy grail of covers. it's just fluid, and grooving

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U-cgn3cEGA

NO LIE, I spent months trying to find this recording. First the skating is obscene, but the jam band cover is the stuff of legends. If ANYONE knows where to find or buy this actual recording I WILL PAY!

[–] 1 pt

Ah yes Nadeshda. That girl is great.

"Has any seen...my ol' friend Nadeshda...can you tell me where she's guh-uh-one" Abraham, Martin, and John

[–] 0 pt

Yes, she is very talented but didn't choose to join us here. She's posted this on a different site:

https://vocaroo.com/162qq9eNG3Hm

[–] 1 pt

Yeah I heard it. It appears she was singing this to get her girls to join in. Pretty cool song.

Hey all, Happy Friday. I sat down to record something, and went to tune up, and there went the E string. So I decided to record something else.

I wrote this 12 years ago, then set it aside because it needs a melody and some words. Maybe someone out there in Poaland can co-write it with me.

The Pain That Never Ends (soundcloud.com)

[–] 3 pts

Gimme the chords and I'll try and write an accompaniment.

[–] 1 pt (edited )

Alright. Play this 3x.

C - Cmaj7(#5) - F6 - Fm - C

Then play this 2x.

G - F - C

Also, I think I may be tuned down a half-step in the recording. But this is the way I originally wrote it.

[–] 2 pts

I'll try and play with it. Please gimme a few weeks, sorry, lots of stuff on my plate

[–] 3 pts

That does sound like a great base for some lyrics, hope someone can offer some.

[–] 3 pts

I like it. Can you sing?

[–] 2 pts

Yeah, I'm just not good with the lyric writing part.

[–] 3 pts

That's pretty good. To me it would be some kinda Dylan folk song type of melody.

[–] 1 pt

Funny you say that, because I always thought it had a Yo La Tengo feel, and those guys are heavily influenced by Dylan, even covering several of his songs.

Just some good ol' boys (soundcloud.com)

Thanks COF!! I'll be back later

[–] 2 pts

Wait, what happens at 1:46? another guitarist on a 12 string? you overdub that, or another live player?

[–] 1 pt

It was just me and my friend Chris each playing a six string acoustic. There was no 12 string. I was just throwing some lead lines in there here and there for the hell of it.

[–] 2 pts

You still in WI bro? Where was it again?

[–] 1 pt

I'll be back later

Just for that, you can open the thread next week.

Technically, I opened a thread in January - during my month off.

[–] 1 pt

LoL I had a date at noon and I was not able to make it. There was no way in hell I was going to drive anywhere. So then she told me that for missing our date this afternoon that I had to pick her up at 6 and my phone got a glass of water spilled on it and it doesnt work anymore. So I had no way of opening the thread as I was not home at 7 I had a hot date and no phone. If my phone worked I could have managed but shit happens. At least COF bailed me out. And I'll do it next week no problem

[–] 1 pt

LOL Why were you not going to drive?

[–] 2 pts

Hi I'm here everyone

[–] 2 pts

Welcome to the camp, I guess you all know why we're here

[–] 2 pts (edited )

Indeed. I'll record something for you guys, need more electric in here

[–] 1 pt

Was that Keith Moon that sang that part or Roger Daltry? I can't remember. I saw Tommy a long time ago.

[–] 1 pt

Hey I want to hear you play the guitar!

I play electric guitar (soundcloud.com) too

[–] 2 pts

That's really good and the audio engineering on the recording is good as well

[–] 1 pt

Thanks!

[–] 2 pts

Howdy everyone, we made it through another week. Hope everybody is as well and sane as possible. I'll go ahead and get things started with a little gem from the archives. Who doesn't like getting Crazy with Chris and Verle singing about Titties And Beer? (soundcloud.com).

[–] 2 pts

I was a guitar shop like a hundred years ago and this guy was messing around and he played this song. I told him hey that's pretty good. He said you wanna learn it. I said yeah. So he came over and tried to show me. I couldn't get it. He gave me sheet music. Standard notation :-( Had to figure it out

Honky Tonk Part 2- Bill Doggett (soundcloud.com)

[–] 1 pt

Nice, did you play both parts? A good standard that can be be used to build on.

[–] 2 pts

Thanks COF. Yeah, I played both parts. It's a damn good standard. Probably nobody's ever heard it but that riff at the turn around is classic.

[–] 1 pt

Nice blues jam man!

[–] 2 pts

It's one of those songs that I keep playing throughout the years. I guess everybody has some songs that they never stop playing. I call them go-to songs. Nothing to play I'll go-to this one.

[–] 1 pt

That makes for having something cool to play if someone would ever hand you a guitar and say play!

Sadly, the album art really gets warped when it's not a perfect square. I can assure you that Biff does not in fact look like the thumbnail!

Anyhow... This was recorded a second time. I think... The first recording was probably just the guitar parts.

Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (hulkshare.com)

Rock on!

[–] 2 pts

Hulkshare stopped halfway through again, arghhh.

[–] 2 pts

LOL It played fine here. Hit the download button and the benefit is you get better album art!

[–] 2 pts

I'm thinking clyp might be worth their low cost. Between DMCA and poor playback HS sucks. Of course, you have your own repository.

[–] 1 pt

Sounds great man!
