They could have been over run at any time if they actually had something that a powerful nation wanted. Like Gold or some rare minerals or something. China would have probably annexed them entirely already if they had something of value like that though

I don't think any country (other than maybe South Korea) is interested in cleaning up the mess. What country wants to deal with cleaning that fucking mess up? Not even China wants to clean up that mess.

No, they want the people. They still have living relatives on the other side of the border. They want to liberate their countrymen.

Shit, many Koreans don't even know about other countries - to the point of not even knowing that we put men on the moon.

I sure as fuck don't want to clean that up. It'd be like millions of hungry children - except they're adults and their only skills are old-school farming.
