Even if you spill coffee, it shouldn't be so hot that it requires skin grafts.
They'd also burned people before among many other things, such as ignoring their own safety guidelines.

Yeah, they overcompensated for a while after that. McDonalds seriously fucked up and should have paid out well.
They managed to win an appeal and paid out very little - maybe not even enough to cover the legal fees, I don't really remember.
It scalded her crotch pretty bad. Man, that has to suck.
They should have at least paid the medical bills. The woman would not have profited from that at all and been happy according to what I just looked up here. I guess it ended up in McDonalds favor monetarily after the appeal but the bad PR probably cost them more than the measly ten grand she asked for
