Maybe you should amend the Solaris to deal with the hosts in only one place to avoid this issue in the future, or just correctly configure the ping and telnet host
Solaris is owned by Oracle now. Oracle bought Sun years ago.
So, I am not going to touch Solaris. Fuck Oracle. Fuck 'em with a stick.
Oh, I thought that was all open source. I don't keep up on that kind of thing at all.
Fuck the world!
It's open, so it could be changed. But, it's also Oracle. Most folks don't even want to touch it, outside of the enterprise. It's still strong in the enterprise. Oracle also has Oracle Linux. One Raging Asshole Called Larry Ellison has bought a ton of stuff.
Hell, when they bought Sun they also got Java. They also got OpenOffice, which is why everyone uses LibreOffice now.
Oracle once sued me for millions of dollars. It cost me a million of dollars to defend myself (my company, really). The suit was frivolous. We'd hired them to convert to their database and they were 6 months beyond deadline and like $250,000 over budget. So, I kicked them out personally. They sued for breech of contract - even though they'd breeched the contract themselves and I was well within the contract to kick 'em out and not pay 'em another fucking penny.
I am not alone. There are countless Oracle lawsuit stories.
Fuck Oracle.
