98? That boy must be on drugs or sumthin.
I have no idea how that happened, not a clue. It's been corrected.
I think I'm going to do (have done, who am I kidding?) a DeLorean restomod.
They looked sleek, but were really anemic. They weren't sport cars, by any stretch of the imagination. Not even by 80s limited performance due to changing emissions laws were they sport cars.
I have no moral qualms about restomodding one of them. They made plenty. There are plenty in good shape. There are plenty that are originals. They're not all that special, other than aesthetically.
So, if I slap in a nice 400 to 600 HP engine, throw on some good brakes, and make sure the transmission is adequate to handle the power... 400 is low, 600 is high. So, yeah, 400 HP would be a nice output, zippy but not stupid.
This needs to be done.
I agree. They were awesome looking cars but the performance sucked. Didn't they have like Renault or Citroen engines in them? Way underpowered. Them and the Prowler were 2 cars that should have been better but just missed the mark.
They used this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRV_engine
And it was not very good, nor powerful. The UK/EU version had an extra 20 hp or so.
The Prowler is actually an excellent store of value. They're worth about the same amount today as they were when they were new. They're worth even more if you have the matching trailer.
Yes, yes you could order them with a matching trailer. No, no I do not know why.
I also have no fucking clue why they're worth as much today as they were when they were new (less inflation). I do not find them visually appealing - but I do find them unique. If I got a REALLY GOOD deal, I'd put one in my collection - but it'd have to be immaculate and the thing has to come in at under 20k. 23k if it includes the trailer.
Anyhow, a small block Chevy engine would fit in there just fine. So, 7k for a tuned LS3 crate engine with a transmission for another 1k is a good start. Add another 3k for braking and then whatever it costs for a nicer set of wheels. Yeah, it seems perfectly doable.
LOL Well, it was a heady time.
It was around Christmas in 1998, and I have no clue what I was doing. I assume I was home with family.
