It was such a change of pace from everything else that was on the radio at the time. You had hair bands, some pretty mild metal, pop music, and the starting days of hip hop. Then, all of a sudden, Jane's Addiction is on the scene with an entirely new sound and not just a new sound but a new sound that sounded good. Their lyrics were awesome, speaking to many - but those many were the counterculture that they spoke to. They spoke to the off-beat, the weird, the unusual... And it was fucking awesome.

Ritual de lo Habitual is one of those rare albums that I can listen to entirely, from one end to the other, and like every single song.
Yeah I used to listen to that whole thing repeatedly.
