That's just it, the cops almost always knew me - unless they were a State Police officer. I only know a couple of them. I know pretty much every other cop, at least by name, for 50 miles around me. (That's a far smaller number of people than you're probably picturing.)

I am 100% certain that you and I get very, very different treatment at the hands of the justice system.
I would have to commit a very serious criminal offense to go to jail for any meaningful amount of time. They'll toss you in jail for a much more minor offense.
Once in the system, I am certain that I'll get a lesser sentence than you will - though I'd probably pay more both in fines and in legal defense fees.

The cops take one look at my record and see felony battery to a judge listed on there and that's all it takes
I try to avoid any and all interaction with the police as much as possible.
