Not really, no... If I do it wrong, I'll get hit with the 'duplicate content' penalty from Google and the whole point is to be indexed properly.

It's also a live site with people using it.

So, it's a bitch to transfer the content and gotta be done one page at a time - for a variety of reasons.

You cant just take the live site down for "maintenance" and transfer it all at once at that time to avoid the duplication penalty?

No, people use the old site. About 20 people per day use it.

I guess, if you don't want to inconvenience them, you're going to have to inconvenience yourself!
