I was in the other building behind the house and she called me and said cops were here and they wanted to talk to me and when i came in the back door there was six of them inside my house. I really don't think she had the legal authority to allow them to enter my house. I am not a lawyer so I don't know for sure. But it sure pissed me off. Then they searched me, in my own home!
A pat-down (including reaching into pockets) is perfectly legal. As she was staying there, she had authority to let them in. Even if she didn't, the cops had 'reasonable cause' to believe she had the authority to let them in.
So, you'd get jack shit in a civil case against them and they broke no laws.
Shit sucks, but that's the way it is.
Yeah, I have never entertained any notions of pursuing that in any way. I know it would never lead to anything and I am not about to waste my time on that nonsense.
That's probably for the best. I doubt you'd even get a lawyer to take it as a case, and definitely not for a promise of payment from the lawsuit. I mean, if you paid 'em outright then there's a shitty lawyer or twenty that'd take the case knowing that you had no cause.
