It takes some time in my experience. I've done it before. Plus you need to do some measurements for a basic alignment and then take it in for an alignment. As you're replacing the entire axle, you can't just count the threads and call it good. Well, you shouldn't.
He is not going to take it in for alignment, he will align it with a string and a couple buckets
I'm a big fan of professional alignments. There will be an alignment table at the shop. I have a portable alignment kit already. It goes to races with me. It uses lasers and mounts to the wheels. You can do a quick alignment in like 15 minutes with it. It was pretty expensive, but worth every penny.
