I save the drunken behavior for after the show - or sometimes the last set at a show where I can get away with it and even then I'm not too drunk to play well enough. By then, they're drunk enough to not care!
Yeah if I were to have to play for an audience I ight have a beer or two
I usually do shots of rum, and a rum and coke on the amp. The rum helps limber up my vocal chords. The rum and coke helps cool things down. I also have a half-dozen bottles of water at my feet - though I tend to grab one, open it, and set it on a stack. It's not my job to put the drinks there, I just expect them to be there.
Literally, all I do now is show up and play - and sometimes rehearse with the band. That't it. I don't even bring my own guitars to the stage. I do a quick sound check, but that's just to refine what was already done for me.
It's a pretty sweet job.
I enjoy a rum and coke occasionally but it tastes too damned good and goes down too fast
