I'd suspect that's confirmation bias, as you likely mostly only associate with a certain type of person.
I mean, you can argue against it, but it's pretty clearly documented in study after study after study. I'm gonna believe them over your personal observations.
That may very well be, and most the people I associate with it is their habits that land them behind bars.
Some folks are retarded and no amount of effort is gonna keep them from doing stupid shit.
I know that I'd be more likely to re-offend if I went to jail and my friends and family cut me off from contact. I'd have nothing left that made it worth behaving, other than a dislike of incarceration. That might not be enough, I may just not give a shit after that. It won't make me necessarily offend again, but it's probably gonna make it a whole lot easier to commit more crimes.
