Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, . That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask COF, Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it.

Here's my latest shredwave song, I cannot do the live thing now.

[–] 3 pts

Cool. Sounds like a fun one to play, it's basically a guitar solo from beginning to end

[–] 2 pts

Shredwave indeed. You were burning up those strings. Thanks for posting, enjoyed it.

[–] 3 pts

Hey all! I hope none of you were in that pickup / semi match-up that put me into overtime this week...Right after I passed the rest stop, thinkin' I could make it 40 miles to the next.

I bought a diy Klon Centaur and assembled it, then a couple weeks ago I got a Donner Auto-Wah envelope filter. I haven't had much time to play with 'em yet. But I did a quick recording and mix of George Michael smash hit between jobs today, then floated it up to the Soundcloud.

[–] 3 pts

Cool. Sounds great. I dig it. It's fun to play with new sounds. I just got myself a Zoon Z1Xon multi effects pedal this past week!

[–] 2 pts

You mean G1Xon, right? Those things are very cool. Have you learned how to use it yet? Is it "user-friendly"?

[–] 2 pts

LoL yeah, that's what I mean. I have only played with the 100's or pre-set sounds in it so far and I played with the looper a little bit. And that has all been really easy to use and understand. I have not tried to edit the sounds or change the pedal chains or anything like that yet but I will try to do that one of these days. So far I really like it. Not all of the sounds are good but it has a whole lot and I can edit the ones I don't really like to something that I do like!

[–] 2 pts

I love that.

[–] 3 pts

We're still being lazy. We did dig out something you've not heard. It's from the 4th of July again - except we were still sober for this one. The audience was kind enough to help us out with some percussion work, which is nice. Also, these weren't recorded with a cell phone, I was wrong. They're from a pair of mics aimed to largely pick up the band. That explains the quality.

Anyhow, here you go:

And now you'll have a greater understanding of why my voice is so trashed at the end of these shows.

[–] 3 pts

Man oh man, that sounds like a fun show. Great job on vox, you hid that talent from us for a while.

[–] 2 pts

LOL I've shared a ton in private, but yeah... I can sing, just not that great.

It sounds great to you (hopefully), but I've had the joy of working with good vocalists. I know enough to know that I'm not all that great.

[–] 3 pts

You're not Robert Plant or Freddy Mercury, but you can stand before a crowd and confidently sing and play your instrument. You have to admit you're a better vocalist than the vast majority of people in the world.

[–] 3 pts

You can definitely tell the crowd was in a party mood and enjoying the hell out of it.

[–] 2 pts

It was a pretty good show, including this one. We had a ton of audience participation, which is always nice.

This was nearing the end of the show, in the last set. It was before we started partying.

[–] 2 pts

Sounds great. Your voice does not sound like Bon Scott or Brian Johnson but it works.

[–] 3 pts

That's the best I can do usually, sometimes I can get it a little closer, but that's about the norm for me. It hurts the fuck out of my throat so I try to not push too hard. The audience likes it well enough, so that works for me.

[–] 2 pts

Yeah those singers are not the easiest to mimic without ruining your throat. Unless you're Verle

[–] 1 pt

If I tried that I wouldn't be able to sing for a month or more. Very well done Sir !

[–] 0 pt

Glad ya liked it and, yeah, by the end of the night my throat and voice are shot. I naturally have a voice that does better in the higher registers, so that helps some. I also don't have the projection it sounds like, that's years worth of learning to take advantage of amplification. I'm actually singing at a lower volume than people think.

I'm not a great vocalists - but I'll do it. I can sing, I'm just not that great. As mentioned many times in these threads, I've had the chance to work with brilliant vocalists. (That has helped me a great deal.) But, it's enough to know my limitations and to know that I'm just not that great.

On the plus side, I can mimic some artists fairly well. Hell, I can even kinda sound like Bob Dylan.

Back in my younger days (believe it or not ) I used to sing some Metal songs Judas Priest .. You Got Another Thing Comin as an example. I've done a bunch of Soul, R&B, Funk but in my "seasoned citizen days " I've gone for the more mellow stuff and mostly the stuff I write. As of late I'm getting the band itch again, I've started contacting people I want to work with, and almost all of them are ready to get started. It's a lot of work, but if you have the right people it can be a whole lot of fun as well. Your vocals were very impressive on a ( for my vocal ability ) an impossible song to sing. I look forward to hearing more tell the Mrs. I said hello.

[–] 3 pts

Hello everybody. Earlier this week my friend Chris came over and we jammed some music for a few hours. While we were playing we made up this here song. I called it

[–] 2 pts

Well, it does indeed sound made up. Meaning I don't recognize it.

[–] 2 pts

I am pretty sure that nobody is going to recognize that song!

[–] 2 pts

I am pretty sure I've never heard it before!

Well, I don't actually suggest relying on my memory.

[–] 1 pt

Another day in the life many can relate to.

[–] 1 pt

Pretty much. Chris always says he doesn't know what to write songs about, I tell him to just write what you are doing. Like sittin on the dock of the bay for example. It's just singing what he's doing. So that's what he writes. I think it works, even if it does sound like a coffee commercial.

[–] 2 pts

Last Sunday I made up this here techno song, or whatever it is. And I thought that it sounded really cool. It's music to my ears. So I played it for one of my girlfriends Sunday night when she came over here and this song pissed her off or something and she got up and walked out on me, because of this music I had made up. Women are crazy. She called me a couple days later crying about it. I don't know what the heck that's all about. Maybe you can tell me, here is my song

[–] 2 pts

Did you just sample her saying "Why? Why? Why?" then synthesize it?

[–] 2 pts

LoL no! Though I should have! That's just the voice that I used in Fruity Loops that came out sounding like it is saying why. I don't know who's voice that is or even if it is a voice.

[–] 1 pt

Maybe she hates Mr. Roboto and this song reminds her of that song and she flips out. Ask her if Mr. Roboto pisses her off. If it does then there's your answer.

[–] 1 pt

Well, your music did provoke an emotion, so there's that. But that is really strange response.

You really stretched out of your usual comfort zone with this one. I like it, does sound like something they'd play in a club somewhere.

[–] 1 pt

Thanks COF! I had sat down to make a little short synthesizer intro for one of my original songs and ended up with that. That is nothing like the sound I had set out to create, but somehow as I was going through the instruments to find the sound I wanted I found the sounds in this song and things just took off from there. I can picture women dancing every time I listen to it

[–] 2 pts

I am sure you guys all heard about Dusty Hill from ZZ Top passing away last week. When Chris and I were playing the other day we decided to play some ZZ Top as a tribute to him. I don't remember which song we were trying to play but we just could not get it at all. So I asked Dusty to come help us get through the song and we got through that one and two more. So thanks Dusty.

[–] 2 pts

My brother ran into Dusty in a Vegas casino a few years ago. He was dressed to the nines and had a beautiful woman on each arm.

Nice job on the covers.

[–] 2 pts

Thanks! Sounds like the same story my brother told me when he ran into Stevie Ray Vaughn shortly before he died. He said he was on the phone saying I love you honey I will see you soon while having a beautiful woman on each arm LoL

[–] 1 pt

Make a song about how COVID is fucking bullshit, please.

[–] 1 pt

ok

i'm working on one 'every single time' that is all about how every single time you look into who is behind the idiocy that takes place in this world its a fucking jew

would that do?

or do you need a covid specific song?

[–] 2 pts

Why not both!? Your original idea sounds pretty good too.
