Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, . That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask COF, Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it.

Hi guys. I've been on the road a lot this year, and I decided to take the time to listen to Frank Zappa. I started with the first Mothers of Invention album and listened to all of his official releases in his lifetime. I found he had a love of doo-wop, so I took one of his songs and did an a capella version. I started it last night, then scrapped it, then began again this afternoon. Just finished up and ran here to share.

You should put that on wikiloops.

I'm gonna flesh it out a little better first, some of the vox are a little off, some of the timing's not right, some other stuff.

It was good enough to share here on fngt, but I think I'll try to record it again when I'm having a better voice day.

Excellent. He always surrounded himself with top quality musicians, many famous in their own rights. The first time I smoked pot his first album came out and we listened to it several times in a row. His cynicism and sardonic wit shaped me into the cynical fool I became and I'm damn glad he did. I loved the way he could get away with insulting most of his audience and they ate it up. From Plastic People:

Take a day and walk around Watch the nazis run your town Then go home and check yourself You think we're singing 'bout someone else...

My older brother came home from Dallas for a visit. His car smelled like smoke, but not like cigarettes. He had an 8-track player, and Apostrophe and Overnite Sensation on tape. A marimba player in a rock band? I was hooked.

I love Ruth! She was so talented.

This is so freaking awesome. I love Frank but man this is something else. Fuck yeah!

Thanks! I wanted to add fingersnaps, but I was under pressure to get it posted here. I'm probably not done with it. Maybe I'll re-record when my sinuses are clearer. There's another vocal part I want to add as well to the 2nd chorus, kind of a showboaty thing.

Zappa's musical output is huge. There were over 60 official releases during his lifetime, and there's been almost that many since.

The guy was superhuman. He would write out all those parts, audition people to perform it, rehearse them till they could play it live without the sheet music, then take it on the road.

I look forward to hearing the additions to it.

And I too love Frank
