I'm looking to change my strings up, especially my trebles. The G in particular sounds muddy, but the B and E don't produce the best tone either. Guitar is an all-solid Takamine, spruce top.

Any suggestions? Wound trebles? Carbon Fiber? Something else?

I recently switched over to John Pearse strings, and I've been very happy with them. They can be a bit on the pricey side, but they're some of the best I've ever used, and I've been playing for over 35 years.

I assume you're using the Thomastik-John Pearse? Do wound trebles feel weird?

Yes and no. I typically don't like wound trebles, but I don't notice it that much when finger picking, although it did take some getting used to with my left hand. On my steel string acoustics, I use no wound trebles since I play mostly with a pick on them, and I tend to tear the winding off of the G string quite regularly. I just keep a supply of plain .024 strings around to swap when I change them. Yes on the Thomastik.

That's what I was thinking of, my fretting hand. Took some time to stop rolling the strings all over the damn place. Sounds like I'll have some acclimating to do.

I'll give them a go, many thanks!
