Yeah, get em hot and they give you the best traction. I do know that much!

The funny looking side to side motion isn't what heats the tires. They're heated because the driver is also braking. Brakes can get to be 2k degrees and that radiates out.

Carbon ceramics sure can!

Amusingly, people will take off their carbon ceramic brake pads when they go to the track. It's much, much cheaper to replace regular pads.

So, they buy the carbon ceramics and then don't use them in the only place where it should really matter.
