I don't see why you would have heard of 'em - except I've probably mentioned them before. You'd only know about them if you were in Maine, or needing the services of a guide in Maine. I could guide you, but I can't call myself a 'Maine Guide'. I haven't passed the test. (The test is brutal. They may even decide to close the books and force you out into the woods to demonstrate.)
I've never hired a guide for anything, but then again, I've never been to a foreign country
I suspect that most Maine guide clients are Americans, looking to have a successful hunting, fishing, and/or hiking trip.
I could ask my guide buddy. He's my friend, but I still pay him when he guides me. Well, no... I haven't paid him for guide work in years, but he taught me a great deal of the skills I have.
yeah I would assume that they know all the good hunting and fishing spots that someone that's not familiar with the area would not know anything about. That makes for a better hunt or fishing trip.
There are a lot of fishing guides in this area
