I am sure that you could get an honorary badge, like they might give to children, that you could pin on your vest!
There's some strict regulations with calling yourself a "Registered Maine Guide" or anything close to it. It's a protected name, kinda like 'engineer'. No, you can't say you're an engineer when you're not an engineer.
They're unlikely to do anything to me, but I'd know the difference. I mostly want to take the test so that I can prove my knowledge. I've learned a lot in the time I've been here. I paid good money to a guide!
They might let you take the test just to see where you are if you pay them
Probably not. It's a State agency. They're not likely to let a non-applicant sit the test.
If they did, I'd jump on that in a heartbeat. I think I could pass the test, with some review.
