Did you just leave things there at the hotel? Or did you move stuff to a storage unit while you were in Maine ?
Oh, fuck no... Those are my rooms. I leave whatever I damned well please right there in the rooms. They're now officially private suites. It's not as uncommon as one might think.
That's cool. Much easier
Damned right.
I've also invested a little into the hotel. They were having some cash flow problems at the start of the pandemic. (I was in VA for that, getting there just before it got too interesting.)
So, you could say that I pretty much own the suites, and things like maid service comes with that ownership. I still have to pay if I use the hotel's restaurant and room service, of course. However, they're pretty good to us. They're always sending up something 'on the house'. They bring us flowers and fruit in the morning and never charge us for any of that. They regularly send up a bottle or two of wine that's on the house, as well.
We tip very, very well. The maid gets an extra $20 every day, for example. Bring me something? That's $10 in a tip - minimum. If it's food and expensive, I'll toss in another 20% tip for the staff downstairs, plus throw the bellboy another $10 for themselves.
We get treated pretty much like royalty/movie stars, except we don't have our own personal security details.
