Well, it wasn't planned this was... So, I've opened the thread.
As such, have an old track that has only been shared once - but should have been shared a lot more often.
Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight:
Rock on!
Nice. Goes to show it doesn't have to be loud and fast to be effective. The tone sounds spot on. Very relaxing.
If you look at the era that's from, so much improvement has been made since then. Still, I think the ladies did a fine job when we consider their skill levels at the time.
It's also one of my favorite songs. I do a neat piece where I basically play all of it at once, with just one guitar, and Biff's a pretty big fan of that. I should record that version sometime. I pretty much play all of it, with two capos on the guitar at once. The D and G are on the 2nd fret and the E and A are on the 4th fret. I pick the notes while laying down the bass and rhythm at the same time. It's a lovely bit of complexity that only works if you've put a ton of hours into it.
Maybe I'll do a recording at some point. We shall see! Biff kinda thinks of it as 'her song', but it took years to master.
Yeah, I remember when she was talking about that version you play. Figured it was a fingerstyle version. Had no idea you capoed two pair of strings. I'll bet it's real hard to play. I've seen a few fingerstyle versions of that song. They all sound so good.
This song was always on our set list end of the night. a well lubricated crowd late night grind.. Nice job as always.
Oh, it's a definite crowd please. If the audience seems to be enjoying it, you can even make it last for a few extra minutes - it's easy enough to stretch it out and have some fun at the end.
Glad ya liked it. We recorded it quite some time ago, but it had only ever been shared once.
