I don't think I would ever do that. Cars are mass produced, if I apply myself I can find one under valued

Auto auctions around here require a dealer license
Hmm... They probably want an in-state dealer license? Otherwise, I'd happily say that you were buying it as my agent. I'd then insert a sale between the two - meaning you bought it and I then immediately sold it to you at the same cost, meaning no taxes for me. One of my employees, eventually both, is a fully licensed dealer in the State of Maine. I employ them and so I'm the dealer on paperwork. That's how we now get the dealer plates.
I avoid taxes where possible. I doubt there'd be anything illegal about it, except they likely want one from in-state.
Is it like that for all auctions, or just the police, impound, and bank auctions?
