Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, . That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask COF, Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then

Hey guys, I hope everyone is well and had a much less exciting week than me. I just picked my dog up from the vet. He's gonna be down for about six weeks, and my wallet is $1500 lighter.

I think I may have shared this over on that other site some time ago, but this is it's first appearance here.

[–] 1 pt

I have it playing in a different tab. It's new to me and not something I'd call your 'norm', but you seem to nail it from my end.

Shitty about the dog. They can be expensive.

[–] 2 pts

I was goin' for a nine inch nails feel on the song.

Yeah, my puppy was chasin' my drone, and he was catchin' some serious air till he came down wrong. I heard it snap from across the yard. Six weeks of cone and sedatives. And I somehow gotta keep him away from his excitable brother.

[–] 1 pt

That sucks. Modern vet medicine is pretty solid too.

[–] 1 pt

Sounds cool. Like some kind of sunshine superman 60's vibe thing going on there. I sure do dig it. I like the way you play and I think it would be cool if I could jam with you.

[–] 1 pt

Thanks Crazy, I enjoy your stuff as well.

Do you guys pay for just the 'basic' plan, at the audio upload site you posted?

[–] 1 pt

I think I'm the only one that pays, actually. I pay for my hosting and bandwidth. The others change email addresses now and again.

We used to have a way to give out infinite email addresses, but I'd have to look into it if someone asked me. I have a special domain name that's just email addresses for people.

[–] 2 pts

I went there and to upload something I had to subscribe. I probably don't know what I'm doing lol.

[–] 1 pt

Yeah, you gotta subscribe. I host my own shit. Fuck hunting around and getting my shit taken down for being too close to the original.

[–] 1 pt

I don't pay anything, I just create a soundcloud account. They give you three hours of audio sharing space for free.

[–] 1 pt

Ah, thanks.

If you want to just share an mp3 track without having to sign up anywhere you can upload mp3s to catbox.moe

Hello again everyone. My friend Chris came over again the other day and I asked him if he had learned anything new to play. He said no. So I suggested we learn one of my dad's songs, as he had mentioned a long time ago that we should, and he said sure. So we listened to this song my dad wrote back in the 70's or 80's and learned the chords and learned the words and played it and sang it.

Here is us doing Floyd Beethoven's

[–] 1 pt

Nice job! You can tell the apple didn't fall far from the tree...I'm sure your dad's proud.

[–] 1 pt

He was a kook, and he is no longer with us, but he was always pretty happy!

[–] 0 pt

I legit laughed, more than once. You know, now we know where you get it from. That's pretty much the kind of song you'd come up with.

[–] 0 pt

Lyrically it is similar to the theme I like to write songs about!

[–] 1 pt

Indeed!

I'm of the opinion that it would benefit from a truly bitchin' solo and a couple more guitarist all having fun with it.

[–] 1 pt

Well I got to say sorry aint been here but I did some mods and the ol bucker didn't want that and waiting on a new one now.

Alnico 2 humbucker 7.8k so it will pair nicely with my 4.6k single coils. I installed a push pot for pos 1,5 to get NxM+B

Installed blender pot for the gilmour mod

Installed 3 way on/on/on for series parallel split coil on the humbucker. Can't wait for pickup get here and installed so I can demo hopefully next week. I do stop by and listen here and there.

[–] 0 pt

Be sure to share it with us when you do get it. Remember, we have low standards and it's not a competition.

[–] 1 pt

definetly not trying to compete i suck at guitar popped my knuckles all my life so spd and quality aint as good as the ol days lol. my humbucker i messed up not being careful enough and burnt a wire back got new one on way. old one was 12.8k dunno magnet steel poles and screws. new one is steel poles and screws but 7.8k and alnico 2 magnet so should be more vintage and match way better with my 4.6k neck/mid pickups. those have 2 small 1/4x1/4 alnico magnets not sure which ones dunno how to find out its a 2020 squier affinty didnt look ceramic looked like a dark grey light blueish color. proper 2 not very bright. hoping it helps my trone a bit so i can get a better sound out amp and guitar. it should be a better sounding guitar next i would like a nice neck and bridge hardware with locking tuners then it should be finished. i did a bunch of sanding and about to do more to shape and make it feel better on neck and body.

If you get stuck, look to YouTube - there are a ton of quality tutorials for swapping out hardware.

Can you solder?

[–] 1 pt

Yup... I have nothing new. I still have fluid behind my left ear, but it's mostly drained. Still, it's like half my hearing is gone. I wore headphones and belted out some Zeppelin a little while ago, but it went unrecorded. It was not really expected, it just seemed the thing to do at the time.

I do have an awesome song. It's one of my favorites to play and listen to.

I f'kin' love that song.

Rock on, Polrbears. Rock on!

[–] 1 pt

That is a great song, and a great rendition of it! My woman was singing along to it!

[–] 1 pt

It is. I love that song.

I don't think we'd shared it often, but I didn't check the archives. I was particularly lazy this week. Well, not lazy so much as unproductive. I've not felt well for much of the week. Things are clearing up, so that's cool.

[–] 0 pt

Glad to hear you're feeling better

[–] 1 pt

Beautiful. Isn't it amazing what a few people can do with a handful of chords?

[–] 1 pt

It's one of the greatest songs ever written, from a guitarist's perspective.

[–] 1 pt

Excellent. I love that guitar in that song. Gotta be fun hammering that open tuning. Kinda like That's the Way by Zeppelin.

[–] 0 pt

Thanks! As a guitarist, it's one of my favorite songs. It's too bad the band didn't do a whole lot more like it. It was kinda a passing phase for them. Also, they suck live... Don't go see 'em live unless you're just going to support the band or something like that.

I should remind folks of a couple of things...

  1. Christmas is coming.
  2. I traditionally take the entirety of January off.

That means would have to open the threads for that whole month. That's a long time in a row in Crazytown, so folks might want to offer to fill in for him once or twice. We don' task for much, but you could open a thread or two for us. We've been doing it all by ourselves for a very long time and we have lost 1/3 of our effective volunteer staff.

One more fun song that we played the other day

[–] 0 pt

LOL I've covered that song - on stage! Well, at a bluegrass festival or competition. I think we weren't actually on stage. It was held in a mall.

[–] 0 pt

I like that song, It just makes you feel happier than you were before it started playing

[–] 0 pt

That's a good way to describe it. I was a fill-in for a bluegrass competition the last time I played it. At least I don't recall playing it since then.

Hmm... Did you hear back from COF? He's only got so much energy. So, I doubt we'd both hear from him in the same day.

[–] 0 pt

Here is another song Chris and I learned and played the other day, from Metalacoplypse,

[–] 1 pt

That's a pretty good song. Chris sang it with a lotta heart.

[–] 0 pt

Thanks!

I thought it was a pretty catchy happy one!

[–] 0 pt

Nice. It's on in the background at the moment.

[–] 0 pt

It's not very long!

[–] 0 pt

I'd never heard that one before.
