He usually calls me 'Pops' or something similar.
And, yeah, he's got it pretty good. I pay well, but he works for it. You gotta work in this household. Even I have work to do.
LoL That's the way it's supposed to be, isn't it?
It isn't for a lot of people in his position, no...
However, I grew up working my ass off.
My kids both have a trust fund - but it's not enough for them to do nothing and live in the lap of luxury. Their trust funds are closer to stipends that'd keep them alive without working.
So, my kids work. That's the way it should be.
Well, that's the way I think it should be. Seeing as I'm the one cutting the proverbial checks, that's the way it's going to happen.
I do have a decent position opening up on the farm in a few months. One of the farm employees is going to take me up on my offer to send them to school. They'll still work part time, but I'll need a full time employee to take over their role. They do general farm labor.
I could pay my farm crew absurdly little. Look up federal minimum wage for farm workers and it'll blow your fucking mind (if you don't already know). However, with me, pretty much everyone I employ starts at $20 an hour. (Not true for the franchises. I have little control over that.)
$20 bucks an hour is probably a pretty decent wage in the boondocks of Maine
