Oh, it's not government overreach, it's institutionalized monopolies - of which we have many. The government ain't the problem other than for letting it happen. As far as government overreach - I'm pretty much okay with 'em saying that not anyone can provide medical treatment. We tried that and it did not end well. No, no it did not.

Those institutions are pretty much the government we have nowadays.
Through their money they control the governments
We could (fairly easily) make more doctors - qualified doctors even. The number of people who could learn to be doctors is much smaller than the number of people who could learn to be doctors.
It's kinda why I giggle at the people who say, "Well, they're an affirmative action hire!" Yeah? So, that doesn't mean they can't do the job - after all, there are all sorts of people who could do the job.
In this day and age with all the technology I would think it would be easier to be an effective doctor in most cases than ever before. Just the availability of the internet has saved them a lot of time in researching patients issues that are uncommon
