Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, . That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask COF, Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then .

Probably 'cause you don't have any LSD!

LOL I once was a (paid) speaker at a 'ufologist' convention. This was back in college. Well, by paid I mean they flew me out, got me a hotel room for a weekend, and gave me a stipend while paying for all my food and alcohol. (Needless to say, they never asked me back a second time.)

It was at a convention hall/civic center in Roswell, New Mexico and the crowd was less than pleased with my talk. Man, I opened it up for questions afterwards and the rage was palpable. Frothy morons asked me questions while trying to not swear and have panic attacks.

Anyhow...

The odds of there being intelligent life on other planets: Near enough to be 100%.

The odds of that intelligent life coming to Earth: Near enough to 0%.

Math, logic, and evidence, and other factors (such as distance and desire) mean that there's zero chance extra terrestrial life has visited the planet Earth.

Those same things pretty much mean life is out there, but the list of reasons why there's no ET life on Earth is just too long and too strongly supported for there to be any chance of ET life in our lifetime or probably in any lifetime given the way we treat the planet and the eventual death of our home star.

They were right pissed.

The convention knew that would be my talk and my talk was a counter to another talk - basically a rebuttal or 'different opinion' talk.

Anyhow, I was on a roll. For everyone that got up there to bitch at my conclusions, I had an immediate response where I dished out as much snark as they did. My responses were so smooth and pointed probably because of my alcohol content. I was not drunk - I was just at that level where you give zero shits about being nice and really want to have another drink.

I have kept all that paperwork over the years - and all my journals. They're still sitting in storage. One of these years, I'll dedicate a room in the basement for them. I've kept my journals all these years. I still keep an academic and personal journal - but I've slowed down with both of them. I don't do nearly as much academic reading as I did just five years ago.

So they were mad that you were telling them even though they probably exist they aren't here and they're not coming?

That's funny

They also really didn't like it when I showed them some pictures I'd taken. They were all blurry pictures of planes and a part of my presentation.

"Can you identify that?"

"No."

"So, then what is it? It's an unidentified flying object. It can be identified perhaps, someday. But, I can tell you with complete certainty that those pictures are all just airplanes. I still can't identify them - I only know they're planes."

Something like that...

And, yeah, that frees up like an hour a day! So, there's that! I'll get used to it. COF isn't the first friend I've lost, though how many real life friends do you spend an hour a day with - sometimes significantly more, albeit while doing other things at the same time?

I may be here in time to open the thread tomorrow. I'm not sure. If I'm not, I'll be there eventually and make an official announcement.

I did tell the friend that called me yesterday and said she was watching a UFO to take pictures of it.

And yeah, I talk to you more often than I do most of my real life friends here in town.
