I don't see any of that on solarmovie, but I have not looked for it either. The version that works now ends with .to

There are a lot of other spoofs of the site but they don't work properly

No, no... The real site has been gone for like a decade. Today, it's just people piggybacking off the domain's reputation. The original site is long since gone.

Ah, someone just using the name for recognition purposes.

I don't know much about it, except that my son said that I can see things I am interested in without having to pay subscription fees

Indeed, you can. Hell, the original one barely even had ads.

Suffice to say, it didn't last all that long - a few years - before it was shut the fuck down. Can't have that free movie watching going on...
