Hello and welcome to another FNGT! Like normal, we'll go ahead and get you started.
I take January off. This is always true and will always be true. That leaves to open the threads. If you'd like to step up and open a thread, let us know. By now, you see what goes into it. 'Snot hard, it's just sometimes awkwardly timed. It opens at 20:00 Eastern US time, so...
COF has been laid to rest and the family is still coping. They'll have some paperwork and grieving left to do, but he has been laid to rest at a very lovely location.
I really miss the cynical old fart. I still sometimes see something and think, "Hey, it'd be fun to mention this to COF." Ah well...
That said, we have nothing new - but we have something that hasn't been shared a whole lot. It's a fantastic track, so here you go:
That's my wife, in whom I am well pleased! She's been playing for a few years now. In another decade, she'll be pretty good! Anyhow, y'all haven't heard that one much.
Rock on, Poalr Bears! Rock on!
I was lucky enough to catch them live a couple of times, including their Moving Pictures tour. What a band!
There's a line in a Pavement song that goes:
"What about the voice of Geddy Lee? How did it get so high? I wonder if he talks like an ordinary guy?...I know him, and he does!"
I've been to a few Rush shows over the years myself including the Signals tour, a couple weeks after seeing Van Halen on their Diver Down tour and in between those two shows Aerosmith Rock In A Hard Place tour. I had never been to a concert until the Van Halen one and then within three weeks time I saw Van Halen with Roth and Aerosmith on drugs and Rush then I bought myself a guitar
Wow, that must've been a whirlwind to see so many greats in that time-span. If I didn't already have a guitar, I sure would've been checkin' em out!
Yeah, I got to see 'em live but just a couple of times. They were a very polished band, which speaks to their skills. They would come really close to replicating their studio sound while in a live environment and with just three of them.
Is she playing all the instruments?
No, the missus is just the guitar. J is on keys. I do percussion and bass. Still, it's a nice and complicated guitar piece - especially for her experience level at the time.
Man alive you guys are great. She played the guitar amazingly. Lead too.
Drums are great. Seems like real difficult to play. I thought I heard like a high-hat tapping eighth notes while you were playing the drums. That must be tricky as hell.
It's one of the more complex drum covers I ever do. The bass is also a bit of fun. The ladies pulled it together nicely, so that's good.
That sounds so spot on. Man! Fucking awesome
That one was a bit of work, as memory serves. It hasn't been shared much, maybe only once or twice. (I didn't check the archives. I'm going by memory.)
I would imagine it would be a bit of work. Just getting those drum rolls down like that had to take some practicing
