Good luck, and have fun!
LOL Mission accomplished!
No police bothered me. Not even a one of 'em so much as flashed their lights at me. I even had an audience for a little while - and still no cops bugged me. The city is mostly shut down as of yesterday, due to the forecast weather. They didn't even wait to make sure it snowed, they just closed when they heard they might get some snow.
You know how people think it's hard/fancy/awesome to drift a car?
Well, I can get the car to go straight(ish) while it's sideways. In other words, the rear tires are spinning and I'm turned into the skid so that the car is traveling in a straight line but is sideways while it's doing so. I can get it quite far sideways and keep it balanced there for a while.
It's even easier to do that in the snow, though I had to constantly fight the car. You can't turn traction or stability control completely off in a regular old 3 series. You can put it in sport mode which dials them back a little, but that's about it.
I was unable to find winter tires for my GT3 RS. I made a few calls, including a dealership. I don't think winter tires exist in the size tires the car has. If they do, nobody has them in stock in the area. They barely have my regular tires in stock. Go figure? (Also, I'm not allowed to complain about tire prices. They are expensive, however.)
Anyhow, I had fun. I'd have much preferred to take the Porsche out, but it's just not something I was willing to do today. I wasn't too worried about my driving - I was worried about someone crashing into me. That was a legitimate concern, considering the other drivers I did see on the road. There weren't many other drivers, but those that braved the snow pretty much fucking sucked.
Oh, it's going to drop below freezing for the night - so it's gonna all be a sheet of ice. They don't have the equipment to plow, sand, or salt the roads. So, yeah... It's going down to 30° tonight. Man, not even ambulances and cops are going to have an easy time of it. It'd be a good night to be a criminal!
It is not expected to be above freezing here for the foreseeable future LoL
It seems ridiculous to shut everything down for a couple inches of snow, but I guess when you rarely have to deal with it that is the easiest way to keep everyone safe. I imagine the grocery stores and the like were doing good business yesterday.
And why can't you complain about tire prices? They are outrageous!!
Someone sliding into your car is probably quite likely
LOL I can't really complain about tire prices when it's me that keeps buying cars that require special tires.
If I can spend less than $1200 getting 4 new tires, I'm pretty pleased with that. However, just my M6 is like $2200 when it's all said and done.
