Also, China would be the PRC - People's Republic of China.

I'm pretty sure... My memory is kinda faulty right now, but I'm pretty sure they're the PRC.

They could just be China, they are the host, aren't they?

China is the host, but they can't compete under China's flag. China has their own team and each team is limited in the number of athletes they field. So, they gotta compete as ROC or not at all.

This being the Olympics, there's always some shady shit going on - like a person being granted citizenship in a country just to compete under their flag. Some of the countries that don't field many people will also let you compete under their flag.

I have nothing against the athletes competing or the competition

If I was into one of those sports and was good enough I would want to go compete against the best in the world, even if it meant representing another nation if I didn't qualify in my nation
