Did they change the Olympic schedule?

It sure is a bizarre world, there is no doubt about that

A long time ago they changed it, and then they delayed the summer games for Covid.

What I remember the summer and winter games were on a 4 year schedule 2 years apart from each other

Yeah. When I was young, it was every four years - for both - both in the same year.

Then they went to alternating them so that there were games every two years, but every four years between the same games.

That's still the case, but they postponed the summer games (in Japan this time around) due to Covid.
