That's all countered by verses such as how the body is a temple...

And, there's nothing really wrong with drinking - it's drinking to excess that the Bible forbids (depending on which verses you go by). If you can't drink without drinking to excess, then you probably shouldn't drink.

Also, back then the water was unsafe to drink (much of the time). So, beer and wine were safe(r) to drink. Germs don't survive well in an alcoholic environment.

Yeah I had heard the pilgrims drank beer from morning to night cause the water would make them sick!

It's the Bible. There are verses for and against it. It's a rather inconsistent book and can be interpreted to say most anything you want it to say. That's one of the reasons I can't possibly be a Christian. I can't be a Christian because I've read the Bible.

LoL i know. Just the other day one of my alcoholic friends showed me that verse. LoL That's the only reason I thought of it!
