It would have to be something really big if they expect it to take a whole week. Possibly upgrading all the access points
LOL Or maybe having some digging done on the grounds...
What's the quickest way to find a missing fiber optics cable?
Hire a backhoe! They'll cut it within an hour!
It's funny because it's true
LOL At my big data center (where our lab was) we had triple redundancy with the most redundant being p2p (point to point) microwave antenna. There were then two distinct fiber optic lines running into the building, one from one direction and the other from the other direction.
We were adjacent to a number of empty lots where there was continued construction. So, yeah... We didn't fuck around with redundancy.
Fortunately, we used the microwave connection sparingly. It wasn't high throughput and it was absurdly expensive. But, it was there as a fail-over.
I'm not that far away. I should stop by the lab one of these days and see if I can convince them to let me in. (If I can, they've completely failed at security.) I could call ahead and get access, I'm sure. I'm curious as to how far they've come.
I actually consulted with the company a few times after selling them the joint. That was mostly just doing data dumps of my brain. I haven't been there since. I do still have some contact with some employees that still work there. We don't talk shop, however. It'd definitely violate my NDA if I did.
