Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, . That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Poal go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, and you're a regular participant, then just ask Crazy, or myself.

If you do know what's going on, you probably don't need to click that link - but you may want to, to make sure you know of the other features, such as the archive or a separate forum that's invite only.

Remember, we are guests here on Poal. Let's act like it. If you're interested in supporting Poal, then .

I was going to participate this week but two guys, in MAGA hats, came and smashed my guitar!

You've been targeted by Q!

You must be a secret baby-eating Democrat that does double abortions. When you've aborted one fetus, you cram it back in to abort it again before eating it while IVing the adrenocrome!

[–] 1 pt

Am not I... don't IV the Adrenocrome!

[–] 0 pt

Hmm... You could still sing us a song, I suppose.

[–] 2 pts

Damnit I see this post every week for weeks. Weeks... Fuck it.

Lil over a year of playing bass. Work full time and kids so honestly I never practiced as much as I should.

I played a YT vid of random punk drum track on my TV, cranked my lil shit box practice amp. Then hit record on my phone.

[–] 1 pt

rocked good what bass ya got?

[–] 0 pt (edited )

My amp is a shitty Peavey Vypyr VIP1 which isnt that great as a bass amp.

[–] 1 pt

nice bass. you could solder a cap in line to the speaker to cut some of the deep bass note out so it will clean up the speakers tone a bit. still sounded good.

[–] 1 pt

Your link is broken.

My favorite Misfits song would be Thieves, by the way.

[–] 1 pt (edited )

I edit just after posting. Try again it works now. Edit also looked up that song. I couldnt find a Misfits song but a Ministry song by that title.

[–] 1 pt

That's not bad for just a year's worth of playing. Not bad at all.

[–] 1 pt

Sounds cool to me, good job man!

[–] 2 pts

Im very proud of him he trying so hard to play. He even does like the angry player who grabs his hand and tries forcing his fingers in place so funny. Thos will be contribute to night but hope to play a nice loud ses morrow in des

[–] 1 pt

It seems like he could play Jingle Bells on that thing.

[–] 0 pt

Would make a great starter song or even batman

[–] 0 pt

Cool man. You got the next SRV on your hands

[–] 1 pt

Maybe one day he is quite smart and has a mind that is vast in wonder and imagination. Maybe he will vast reshape music theory i dunno but i hope he gets my grandpas talent and thank ypu

[–] 0 pt

As long as he gets to do what he loves when he grows up and is happy in his life is the best you can hope for. Anything else is just gravy

[–] 0 pt

"Him" meaning like your kid or something?

[–] 1 pt

Hes trying but his hands are still small. Hes very small for his age but his mind is sharp and knows what he wanta his hands to do. If i keep him from damaging his hands he will be the new gen blues man i promise u that

Young is good. Almost the younger the better, though I'd probably not try to seriously teach a student until they were 8 (some kids sooner, some kids later). I've done my share of formal teaching for money, a couple of times right out of a guitar store booth.

Now's a good time to show them that they don't have to press hard on the frets. The lighter they can press on the frets to make a note ring true, the better. Learning a light touch now will save a couple of years of fixing it later in life. Pretty much everyone I hear without formal instruction is pressing the frets too hard - and I'm guilty of doing so myself.

It's easier to learn good habits than it is to correct bad habits. <-- That's very important.

Hello and welcome to another FNGT. We don't have anything new, we did last time we opened thread so go listen to that again!

This week, let's trot out a classic that hasn't been shared all that often - perhaps only once before:

By the way, it'd be pretty sweet if at least one other person volunteered to help. There's just two of us, when we had three of us for years. Shit happens, sometimes to two people - but seldom to all three of us.

Rock on, Poalr Bears. Rock on!

I'm (at least) 18 and I don't know what I want.

Michael Bruce and Glen Buxton were an awesome team.

[–] 1 pt

If you get the chance to see Alice Cooper in concert, take it.

[–] 1 pt

[–] 0 pt

I like this one even better than the 18 one! Hell yeah!

[–] 0 pt

Sounds great as always.

My woman came home with a surprise for me earlier and I haven't got the chance to listen until now. I almost forgot about the whole thing but I managed to get a song on!

[–] 0 pt

LOL It's a good thing my network was working!

[–] 0 pt

Yeah, I was very grateful for that when I happened to notice the time!

Hi all, and happy Friday! I've got a dozen irons in the fire and it feels pretty good.

I think I may have posted this up on another site many moons ago.

[–] 1 pt

It's all good. You can share it more than once.

September of 2929 - https://fngt.gq/2020-archives/09-11-2020-fngt-archive/msg539/#msg539

It does feel good to have all sorts of things to do or all sorts of things you're working on that may pan out the way you want them to.

Me? I've been excited by guitar again - by starting a project checking out how cheaply one can get into guitar these days - and it's amazing. I bought an IYV Les Paul for $170 and intonation was spot on, no fret fuzz, action perfect, etc... It's very playable, like a guitar worth about 4 times as much. I'm gonna keep testing cheap ass gear. Even my cheap amp sounds acceptable.

I haven't owned anything with humbuckers for a long time, and I don't have a good reason for it. It may get remedied soon. One of my children is dating someone who works at the PRS factory. I've been dropping hints.

[–] 1 pt

LOL A couple of years back, I got artist price on some guitars out of their custom shop. I regret nothing!

I've heard rumblings about PRS quality lately, but I'd not worry too much about that.

[–] 1 pt

Damn. That sounds like the stuff they played on Barbarella with that fine ass Jane Fonda.

[–] 1 pt

That sounds nice and laid back and dreamy

[–] 1 pt

Thanks, I wrote it while hanging out in a cabin on a creek.

[–] 1 pt

honest could see this leading to a 13 minute gilmour syd barrett style solo maybe make one for it?

[–] 1 pt
[–] 1 pt

Cool. I read somewhere (COF maybe?) the reason that part sounds so different is because it's a sax and harmonica playing in unison.

[–] 1 pt

We were talking about getting a sax last weekend

[–] 1 pt

Nice i like it. Have fun tonight

All my friends, they are low riders...
